2007 USA FOUR CORNERS |

I officially completed the four corners in 18 days, 8,004 miles. Including my ride to the first corner (San Ysidro, California), and back home from the last corner (Key West, Florida), my complete tour was 30 days, 12,467 miles, including three days that I did not ride over Memorial Day weekend when I was in Tampa, Florida. I started in Salt Lake City, Utah and rode to San Ysidro, California, up most of the Pacific Coast Highway to Blaine, Washington, further north to Jasper, Canada, over to Madawaska, Maine via Canada, down the Atlantic Coast to Key West, Florida, and then home along the Gulf Coast, turning northwest at Houston, Texas across New Mexico and Arizona. I rode the entire tour by myself, with the exception of a stretch that I rode two-up with my wife from Seattle, Washington, up to Jasper (Alberta, Canada), down to Banff (along the Icefields Parkway), and then to Calgary. The 'semi-structured' format of the SCMA's tour requirements was good in the sense that I ended up riding to a lot of places that I would never have considered riding - like pretty much anywhere east of the Rocky Mountains. I was pleasantly surprised by some places, and now know never to go back to other places. Like any long ride, my tour was full of beautiful places, interesting people, and odd events; all of which I will tell you about in detail when I publish my trip log on this site in the upcoming weeks...or at least hopefully before my next big adventure! |
